Our Philosophy
This film is dedicated to all yoga practitioners and teachers from across the globe.
This is our humble attempt to bring you closer to India, the birthplace of yoga. A country where harmony thrives in the madness and chaos of a billion souls.
It all started in a yoga class.
As the teacher asked us to gently breathe into the asana, it was difficult to imagine breathing into plastic pants that have become the popular choice for yoga.
Take a deep breath
Nose down into a PET mat in Bhujangasana, breathing seemed a poor option and the irony did not go unnoticed.
It begged the question, what should one ideally wear for yoga?
From there we started a two year long deep dive into the history of yoga. Alongside we worked with fabric and material experts to help develop products that were sustainable, had optimum performance and looked great.
We believe that most yoga wear is sportswear in disguise, and no one is seriously asking, "What garment would be true to yoga practice?"
The Birth of Proyog
Proyog is derived from a Bengali word 'prayog' that means 'Experiment' or 'Application' and yoga is about both. Pro stands for Professional and yog stand for Yoga. The Downward Dog logo comes from our love for our four-legged friends and the pose that they inspire.

contradiction, or the harm they invite.

...is the genesis of our clothing. Yoga clothes should be neither too tight, nor too loose. We deserve garments that do not make their presence felt during practice.
Plastic products like nylon and polyester just do not go with yoga.
They are not only harmful to the body but also the environment. When we wash plastic garments, the micro fibres enter the oceans and pollute the sea life. But 90% yoga practitioners still wear plastic products. We have made it our mission to offer a sustainable alternative.
